Treat your newsroom like a laboratory: a framework for content experimentation

Use the principles of scientific experimentation to innovate content and measure its success.

Some journalists joke they entered the industry because math or science wasn’t for them. I believe it is and that no matter what their area of specialty, journalists can apply the scientific method to better understand and reach their audience. This session targets newsroom leaders who want to innovate and who aren’t afraid to make and learn from some failures along the way. It provides a framework for designing “experiments,” deploying them, gathering data and analyzing whether they were a success. This is a great way to take ideas and best practices from ONA and developing a thoughtful plan to put them into practice in their own newsrooms.
