Local news outlets and niche publications are similar in that hey both serve distinct communities with a common interest. What can they learn from each other?

Local newsroom flourish when they know their local community well and what makes them tick. The same can be said of niche publication serving a topic-specific community – sports, travel, science. But are there tips and tricks that Local News journalists have mastered that could also be put to great use for niche publications? Are there lessons from serving a geographic community that could be applied to serving a topic community, and vice versa? Let’s workshop some ideas!
